My TS-209 Pro doesn't connect to my router (not seen by router), even though the LAN port sometimes flashes orange (and flashes 2 Greens, meaning 100MBit from my router, and when connected directly to laptop, 3 flashes for 1000MBit, but no connection is seen)Qnap TS-459 Pro II Pdf User Manuals. The System LEDs are constantly:
System (i symbol) flash red and green. HDD (when connected) are orange, sometimes flash. LAN LED (when connected) is orange, sometimes flashes. Blue lightbulb icon.
Ruling out the six problems pointed out in the manual as demonstrated here: http://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?p=288322 ?
Via manual: http://docs.qnap.com/nas/en/index.html?check_system_status.htm
1) The hard disk drive on the NAS is being formatted.
2) The NAS is being initialized.
3) The system firmware is being updated.
4) RAID rebuilding is in process.
5) Online RAID capacity expansion is in process.
6) Online RAID level migration is in process.

I'm pretty sure we've only ever had RAID 0 with the same two 500GB HDD since we bought it, so I don't think it's 4-6.
Not sure about 3, since we never manually updated, if it automatically updated, and we shut it off (long press), then this may be the cause of the problem(?) Another cause may be we filled the 1TB total to capacity, and the NAS tried to auto-update firmware without enough space. (?)
1 cannot happen when there are no HDDs
Which leaves 2 if my reasoning is right. 2 is ambiguous though.
The problem, is I can't do most of the recovery options since I don't have a connection with the TS-209 Pro
So solutions like these don't work:

Unfortunately I don't have Recovery mode, since my warranty sticker seems to have ticked 2007 December as being date of manufacture?
http://wiki.qnap.com/wiki/System_Recovery_Mode#How_does_Recovery_Mode_work.3F
I cannot do
System Recovery Mode is enabled by installing the QPKG (.qpkg) files via the web administration page under 'System Tools' -> 'QPKG'.
since I cannot access the device, let alone web admin page. As per the System Recovery Mode wiki page, I tried:
Important!!! DO NOT attempt this procedure unless you are unable to boot your NAS correctly WITHOUT HARD DRIVE. If your NAS can not be booted correctly, the first thing you should try is to remove your hard drives and boot the NAS again.
Which didn't work. From Firmware Recovery http://wiki.qnap.com/wiki/Firmware_Recovery
The pre-Steps were:
1. Power off the NAS.
2. Remove all the hard disks.
3. Power on the NAS.
4. Wait for ten seconds and check if you hear a short beep.
5. After the short beep, wait for two minutes to check if you hear a long beep.
6. If you only hear a short beep or do not hear any beep, follow the instructions of this guide to recover your NAS.

I got only 1 short beep. No beeps after that. Same with resetting - no beeps at all if only reset button is pressed (for over 20 seconds). If I power on the TS-209 Pro with Reset button held, then power button held, it will boot like reset button wasn't held down (1 short beep).
Before I noticed the /tftpboot directory, I tried flashing as per Firmware Recovery using method 2 with virtualbox. I checked my TX, on eth0 and there were only 468 bytes sent.
But there doesn't seem to be the right image (16MB or 8MB .img file) for the TS-209 Pro under /tftpboot as pointed out here http://blog.s-c-r.de/2010/03/09/high-tech-qnap-desaster-recovery-for-models-ts-109-ts-209-ts-110-ts-119-ts-210-ts-219-ts-219p-ts-410-ts-410u-ts-419p-ts-419u/
I have tried all other live CDs here ftp://ftp.qnap.com/NAS/live_cd/ and none of them list TS-209 image file under /tftpboot.
Could someone please point me to a liveCD where I can flash the /tftpboot file for the TS-209 Pro and recover it as in 'Firmware Recovery' on the wiki?
The 1 short beep when I boot apparently means the bootloader is OK, just the firmware is not, so I may have to go serial on it like http://www.cyrius.com/debian/orion/qnap/ts-209/serial.html

However, I'd still need the image (not sure if the 'F_TS-209P_20081024-2.1.2.img' or 'TS-209_3.3.2_Build0918.img' I've downloaded will work out of the box.)http://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?t=17630
Could possibly work for me, but right now I want to save the NAS, not recover data and ditch the NAS (I have backed it up already).
Other details:
Using Ubuntu 12.04, although also not accessible via Windows XP and Windows 7
Using a TS-209 Pro
Firmware revision - unknown, although we never manually updated, not sure if it automatically updated.
I have the NAS connected directly via ethernet cable to the router for troubleshooting (and sometimes to my laptop). Normally it's connected to a switch which is connected to the router.
All help greatly appreciated!! Hope I can resurrect this system!Hi all,
I have just bought the Qnap TS-209 Pro II The installation went quite well as i managed to follow the installation guide easily - great guide by the way! However when I was about to finish the setup I was unable to 'map the network drive'. After I enter my user name and password it gives me this message: 'Network Failure: the server is not found on the network'.
Can anyone help me on this? I am really stuck with this problem. I am not a very nas-tecnical guy so please try not too technical
